The first Configuration was completed several months before the rest of the series as a stand-alone, and percolated in the back of my mind during that time before I came to recognize where I was headed with it, what it meant, and how to expand its ideas. Nature is for me, as it is for many, a source of spiritual healing and calm, and the intrusions on it with subtly grotesque imagery grew out of anxieties over socio-political forces threatening both the literal environment and my personal sense of calm and safety. It is a troubled piece, but also a beautiful one, with its sunset palette accented with green.
